Re: Traveling as a new grad
I think that if you are going to travel as a new grad, you have your head in the right place and are asking the right questions. I definitely had the same concerns when I was starting out as a traveler - how can I be a travel PT, but also make sure I'm being mentored and growing as a professional? W...

Re: Starting out traveling.
Thanks for the question, and you raise a good point! I do know therapists that stick with on agency, and you're right in thinking that this makes their lives much simpler as far as 401k, health insurance, etc. A lot of agencies will incentivize you to stick with them for multiple assignments by offe...

Re: Experienced Traveler
Anna, Thanks so much for adding to the convo. I think this is one of the great debates in travel PT; to travel right out of school or not? Keep us updated, Anna. I think your perspective as a new grad traveling right away is a great one to have. Also! Let me know if you feel like writing a blog or t...

HOME HEALTH resources
Home Care is a setting that is frequently open for travel PTs and other contract workers. Home Care comes with certain benefits including the flexibility of the schedule and the chance to be outdoors throughout the day when traveling between patients. However, home care also holds certain clinical c...

Re: ORTHO Resources
Here's a free resource from the Orthopaedic Section. This is a very novel, forward-looking project that is still in it's early years. The section is creating guidelines for treating the most common orthopaedic conditions based entirely on published research. Eight of these guidelines have been publi...

Re: ORTHO Resources
As a traveler, continuing education can be difficult to come by. Without a consistent employer funding it, with your practice always changing, and with the constant growth that occurs moving from setting to setting, many of us can be found guilty of falling behind on our formal CEUs. Here's two plac...

ORTHO Resources
What I'm starting with here are the resources I have used for CEUs and general day-to-day references for my own treatments. These are just a few of the many, many resources out there to "bone" up on what's the latest in Ortho PT. Feel free to add to this list of resources that can serve as a resourc...

Re: Acute Care - Returning to Acute Care PT after a long hia
This is a great resource put together by the Acute Care Section. Many important decisions about your treatments in acute care are based on patient lab values. This document explains each lab value and why you should care about it. There are a lot of suggested readings within this document that compl...

Re: OP ortho travel positions
Outpatient ortho jobs are out there and you may be asking the right question about how flexible you need to be on location. You're definitely going to find more or less needs depending on your location. I've done quite a bit of outpatient for hospitals. Many of those assignments are ortho-heavy... a...

Re: trying to get a Florida job in September, too early to l
Jennifer, I've experienced this same thing very recently. You call a staffing agency, talk for 15-20 minutes about who you are and where you'd like to go, and then don't hear from the company again for several weeks... weird! You might be a little early to be expecting a ton of assignments, but not ...
