Re: Travel therapy companies

Chelsea, I'll shoot you an email with my recruiters' info. I'm in the camp that says get a little experience before you travel (even if just a few months). I think a lot of people are able to travel successfully as new grads, but I believe it is a less-than-optimal start from a professional and qual...

Re: Traveling Mental Health Therapist?

I just don't know.... but I'm going to find out. I searched "traveling social worker" into google and saw two agencies in the early results.... who knows if they actually place MSWs. Have you checked with any agencies? I'm going to email my recruiters right now and see if they ever place people like...

Re: New To Traveling

Eric, Great thoughts about vetting your recruiters. If it feels impersonal, it is, and there's far too many options in recruiters and agencies to put up with that kind of foolishness. Good on you to hold off on submitting skills checks, etc. When companies ask for these early, I find it a very big t...

Re: Travel therapy companies

Ryan, So glad the site has been helpful for you. You know I already emailed you back, but figured I would jump on here and repeat some of my commentary on travel resources. Sadly, there's not a whole lot. Most of the bigger websites out there are owned by staffing agencies or if they have some sort ...

Re: New to home health

I don't think you'll have any trouble transitioning back into ortho or private practice when the time is right. You have several years experience there, you have a manual certification, you'll be an easy hire when the time comes. I think a variety of settings will give you better insight into your o...

Re: Travel therapy companies

Danielle, I've sent you my recruiters, but here's a little extra advice. Just remember that you are the commodity, without therapists, there is no one for recruiters to staff. You should feel as though your recruiter is there to help you down the road. If you contact a company about getting an assig...

Re: Travel therapy companies

Laura, Here's a really long answer to your pay question: http://hobohealth.com/wordpress/contract/how-are-you-paid/ ...and here's a little bit more direct answer on our discussion boards: http://www.hobohealth.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5729 But the real answer is that it varies a lot depending ...

Re: Travel therapy companies

I talked with a new grad last year who he and 2 other friends were trying to pull off traveling together - they ended up traveling in Vegas and have made it work (and based on Facebook posts look like they're loving it). I think a couple things need to be in place for it to work for you: 1. Choose t...

Re: Travel companies

I haven't ever heard of Host Healthcare.... maybe a good thing, I tend to like smaller companies.

I'll shoot you an email with my recruiters, I try not to advocate for or against any one agency on the site to keep it impartial.

I think sending her something sounds really nice! Maybe something meaningful from your last destination? I've sent small things before, so I wouldn't be shy about it!

Re: Travel therapy companies

Alexis, I hear you loud and clear, sometimes you have to seize the timing and just get out traveling. You've got your mind in the right place to keep up on continuing ed and seek further education, because traveling can be a little solitary in those areas - so keep that frame of mind! Also, be activ...

Re: Packing List

As far as packing.... less is more. Most furnished apartments will have everything you NEED. There are other things you may WANT. I do have a container of kitchen stuff that I bring with me, just simple comforts that I enjoy - French press, a certain casserole dish I like, an other stuff like that. ...

Re: Packing List

Let me field the insurance question first. Recruiting agencies' insurance options are usually very good plans. I would say to start with your agency's coverage and if you later feel that it would be better to carry your own, you can make the switch at that point. Here's a bunch of previous posts whe...
