2 ttherapists travels stipend

Unread post by Kylasue » Sat Sep 10, 2016 7:59 pm

Hi,
I have another question, we are a PT/SLP just beginning the process of becoming travelers. Our question is, when we get a contract to work do we both receive a stipend? Should we use the same recruiter or different ones?

Thanks,
Kyla

Yes, you both receive a stipend - the IRS sets maximum rates by zip code that each worker can be paid. So if you are living below what the stipends allow, you keep the money.

We typically search with 2 to 3 recruiters at a time. It can vary whether we end up working for one recruiter or two different ones, just depends on who finds us jobs first. For some reason, recruiters tend to try to look for 2 jobs in one place (which hospitals often have) - be clear with your recruiters that you don't necessarily have to work together. I bet there are less SLP jobs that PT jobs, so that will probably dictate where you go.
